The American University of Nigeria (AUN) celebrated its 17th Founder’s Day and 20th anniversary with initiatives promoting student welfare, innovation, and sustainability. The event coincided with the birthday of the University’s Founder, former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
AUN announced the construction of two new student hostels to accommodate its growing enrolment, with the first phase expected to be completed by September 2026, through a partnership with a leading Abuja-based property developer.
The University also commissioned a synthetic 5-a-side football pitch, donated by Jaiz Bank, as part of its Student Entrepreneurship Hub, which aims to foster teamwork and innovation.
Highlighting sustainability, AUN unveiled a renewable energy project achieving full energy autonomy, ending recurring power challenges on campus.
President Prof. DeWayne Frazier said the initiatives reflect the University’s commitment to building a resilient, future-focused institution and lauded the Founder’s enduring vision for empowering African youths.
Founded in 2003, AUN has grown into West Africa’s premier development university, blending liberal arts education with entrepreneurship, sustainability and community engagement to equip leaders for regional and global impact.
