The Chancellor of Covenant University, Dr David Oyedepo, has urged students to place the Bible above academics as their “most trusted companion” in life.
Speaking at the institution’s End-of-Session Assembly after the Omega Semester examinations, Dr Oyedepo delivered an address titled The Bible, the Answer Book of Life. He told students that Scripture, not just study, was the foundation for success and leadership. “The Bible is not for religious entertainment or occasional consultation,” he said. “It is a daily manual for victorious living. Everything celebrated about Covenant University today is a direct outcome of a life governed by biblical principles.”
He recalled his own experience of healing from tuberculosis in his youth after prayer and reading the Gospels, saying it cemented his faith in the Word. Quoting Proverbs and Deuteronomy, he reminded students that wisdom begins with the fear of God, and that “those who diligently follow God’s Word are set above nations”. Vice-Chancellor Professor Timothy Anake, in his closing remarks, urged students to remain spiritually grounded during the holiday, describing the Bible as an anchor for their future.
