The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) has announced a partnership with the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) in Oron, Akwa Ibom State, to tap into the potential of the blue economy for both state and national development.
This collaboration is set to focus on key areas such as maritime logistics, education, professional development, and exchange programmes.
During a visit to the newly appointed acting Rector of MAN, Dr. Kelvin Okona, the chairman of CILT’s state branch, Mr. Itoro Effiong, expressed the Institute’s eagerness to work closely with the Academy in advancing maritime education and logistics in Nigeria.
Effiong noted that the maritime and logistics sectors are undergoing significant transformations locally and globally.
In response, Dr. Okona praised CILT for its ongoing efforts in maritime education and pledged to foster a strong partnership, especially in areas like training, cadet membership, and professional engagement.
The collaboration will also focus on expanding CILT’s membership base, enhancing capacity-building initiatives, and addressing accreditation challenges.
Both parties expressed optimism that the partnership will create a lasting impact on the sector and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.
