The Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) is set to provide funding, training programmes, and career assistance to students of the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos, to boost Nigeria’s financial markets.
Mr Ayo Adeonipekun, the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who represented Mr Oloropo Dada, the President and Council Chairman, during the visit to the college, disclosed the opportunities available through the institute’s certification programmes.
The registrar, while speaking, described the college as the first tertiary institution in Nigeria and a symbol of academic excellence.
He noted that the institute’s visit is part of its plan to build a cohort of young professionals for the capital markets, adding that the certificates it issues are globally recognised and offer career opportunities locally and internationally.
Reacting to the institute’s plans, Dr Ibraheem Abdul, the college’s rector, appreciated them and expressed readiness to collaborate on co-teaching arrangements, industry immersion programmes, and curriculum development.
