The Ogun State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Olayinka Diana Nasamu, has launched the 2024 Job Advisory and Counselling (JAC) Week for Batch C Stream I Corps Members at the Sagamu Zonal Office.
The week-long programme, also flagged off in Ijebu Zone, aims to equip Corps Members with career guidance, entrepreneurial skills, and insights needed to transition successfully after their service year. Ota and Abeokuta Zones are set to host theirs later this week.
Speaking at the launch, Mrs Nasamu stressed the importance of early career planning, self-development, and practical skills. She encouraged members to take full advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme. She highlighted the NYSC’s collaboration with the Outsource to Nigeria Initiative (OTNI), which uses the AI-driven Worknation platform to connect graduates with employment and training opportunities.
Interactive sessions guided global education opportunities, including scholarships and study pathways in Canada, as well as practical advice on self-reliance and entrepreneurship.
“The realities of today’s job market demand proactive planning and skill acquisition,” Mrs Nasamu said, urging Corps Members to embrace every opportunity to prepare for a sustainable future.
The initiative has been praised for its forward-looking approach to youth empowerment and post-service readiness, aiming to turn Corps Members into skilled, job-ready graduates.
