Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has appointed Eunice Omonzejie as the new vice-chancellor of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
The appointment was announced in a statement on Monday night, stating that it took immediate effect following the university’s governing council’s recommendation of three candidates.
Professor Omonzejie, a scholar of French and Francophone African literatures, has been a long-serving academic in the Department of Modern Languages. She has published widely in African and Francophone literary studies, gender studies and cultural studies.
The statement said she has also been an advocate for women in education, having previously led the university’s chapter of the National Association of Women Academics.
The government congratulated her and urged her to utilise her experience to enhance research, innovation, and graduate training at the institution.
