The Edo State Government is set to seal a technical partnership with the University of the West of Scotland to strengthen its higher institutions.
According to the state’s Commissioner for Education, Dr Paddy Iyamu, the agreement will focus on student and staff exchanges, improved research, better teaching standards, and the use of new technology in learning. Short courses and internship opportunities will also be part of the collaboration.
Speaking during an engagement session at the Scottish university, Dr Iyamu said the initiative reflects Governor Monday Okpebholo’s commitment to building human capacity and transforming education in Edo State.
He added that under the governor’s leadership, state-owned institutions are already experiencing a new wave of development, and this partnership will further equip students and lecturers with global skills and exposure.
The move is expected to boost innovation, critical thinking, and academic quality in Edo’s tertiary education system.
