The Federal Ministry of Education has won the 5th Federal Education Sector Games (FEDUGAM), which ended on Saturday in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
The ministry secured 19 gold, 18 silver and eight bronze medals to top the table. The National Examinations Council (NECO) came second with 13 gold, 17 silver and 17 bronze, while the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) placed third with three gold, three silver and five bronze.
Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, said the games had strengthened unity and friendship among agencies in the sector. Represented by Prof Ibrahim Ogiri-Hassan of the Federal University of Lafia, he praised the Nasarawa State Government for hosting the event and thanked the university for providing its facilities.
The Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Yakubu Kwanta, represented by Helen Madaki, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to sports development. FEDUGAM chairman Dr Saeed Yusuf, represented by his deputy Olapade Suleiman, thanked the minister for supporting sports within the ministry and commended organisers for their efforts.
