Ekiti State University (EKSU) says it has reduced its debt profile from ₦12 billion to ₦7 billion within one year, as the institution reports reforms in funding and programme expansion.
Vice Chancellor Professor Babatola Ayodele disclosed this during a thanksgiving service marking his first year in office, noting that the state government had increased its financial support to the University twice in the past three years.
He said the funding boost enabled EKSU to secure approvals for new academic programmes and improve existing ones, positioning the institution to introduce a postgraduate degree in medicine.
Ayodele added that student enrolment has grown and infrastructure upgrades are planned, including renovations and expansion to meet academic standards.
The University’s management also pledged to prioritise staff welfare and improve facilities to support ongoing reforms.
Religious leaders at the service urged the administration to remain committed to transparent governance and educational development.
