Enugu Smart Schools Not Ready in Some Communities

Governor Peter Mbah’s Smart Green School project in Enugu State, designed to upgrade primary and secondary education in all 260 wards, is scheduled to kick off on September 22, 2025. However, there are concerns that not all the schools will be ready. For instance, in Ogwu-Obollo, Udenu LGA, PDP leader Hon. Hillary Onah said the smart school in his ward is only about 80 per cent complete, making it difficult to open as planned.

Onah warned that children in such schools could be left behind compared to their peers in fully completed schools. He appealed to the governor to urge contractors to expedite work so that all wards can enjoy equal access to quality education. According to the state government, the Smart Green School initiative will provide modern classrooms and better learning environments.
