Yusuf Gwadah, Chancellor of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun

Chancellor of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, Yusuf Gwadah, has said that the institution stands as proof that faith-based education can produce globally competitive scholars and researchers.

Speaking at the university’s 20th Convocation Ceremony, Gwadah said Bowen’s achievements in research, innovation, and community service demonstrate that spirituality and academic excellence can coexist.

He revealed that the institution ranked among Nigeria’s top 500 scholarly outputs by SCOPUS/SCiVal (2021-2025), with several lecturers listed among the nation’s top researchers. Bowen’s postgraduate enrolment, he added, rose by 758.5% within four years following full approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jonathan Babalola announced that 13 Bowen academics were listed among Nigeria’s top 500 authors, while seven were featured among the World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier.

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, hailed Bowen as a pride to Osun State and urged the federal government to boost industrialisation to create jobs for graduates.
The university honoured outstanding students, with Lotechukwu Ikpo (Economics) emerging as the overall best, earning ₦1 million, a master’s scholarship, and a salary offer.
