The federal government (FG) has ordered the immediate closure of 41 federal unity schools due to rising insecurity in the country.
The order was passed in a circular issued by Binta Abdulkadir, the Director of Senior Secondary Education.
In the statement, the government described the decision as an urgent measure to prevent more insecurity in target schools.
Before the closure, bandits had attacked different educational institutions, including St. Mary’s School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, where many students were abducted, and in Maga, Kebbi State, where 25 students were kidnapped.
In the effort to maintain security in the country, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has cancelled his trips to South Africa and Angola.
