FG Launches Transparency Platform for Tertiary Institutions

The Federal Government has launched the Tertiary Institution Governance and Transparency Platform (FTIGTP) to promote accountability, transparency and efficiency in Nigeria’s higher education system.

Unveiling the platform in Abuja on Tuesday, the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, described it as a significant milestone toward restoring public trust and driving data-based governance in the sector.

Alausa said the digital platform will provide real-time access to accurate data and financial information across all tertiary institutions, ending years of fragmented and opaque record-keeping. He added that it aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for open governance.

According to the minister, the FTIGTP will publish verified details on student enrollment, funding, research grants, and TETFund allocations, enabling the public to track how resources are utilised.

He noted that compliance will be mandatory, with institutions required to submit annual data and financial reports regularly. Funding and interventions will henceforth depend on transparency metrics.

Alausa emphasised that the platform is “not just a digital tool but a reform instrument” that will improve efficiency, strengthen institutional planning, and ensure better value for public investment in education.
