Fidelity Bank Gives Kids Solar School Bags

Fidelity Bank has donated 1,000 solar-powered school bags to pupils in public primary schools across Ogun State. The donation is part of the bank’s “Lighting Young Minds” initiative, aimed at helping children study better, especially in areas without regular electricity.

The solar-powered bags allow pupils to read at night without using candles or kerosene lamps, which can be dangerous. The bank’s CEO, Mrs. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, said the initiative is meant to inspire young minds and support education through impactful but straightforward innovation. The school bags were given out during an event in Abeokuta on July 4, 2025. The First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, was present and said the project was a big step forward in helping children grow and learn better. Fidelity Bank has also helped education in other ways, such as giving loans for school fees, organising writing contests, and supporting clean energy in schools. The bank has promised that it will not relent on its efforts to ensure more children can get a good education.
