In a bid to prepare students for real-world experiences, the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi (FPTB) has advised over 3,000 students participating in the 2024 Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) to combine classroom knowledge with practical skills.
Speaking during the orientation at the school’s 510 Hall, the Rector, Alhaji Sani Usman, represented by Deputy Rector Dr Dalhatu Sa’idu Abubakar, told students to take the exercise seriously, be punctual, and represent the school well. He said SIWES is not a holiday, but a time to gain hands-on experience that can contribute to national development.
Dr Hamisu Idi, the SIWES Director, warned against truancy and emphasised the importance of proper supervision. Also speaking, Malam Auwal Muhammad from the ITF Bauchi Office, urged students to dress decently and follow all safety rules during their attachment. The first batch of students will be posted to different companies after the orientation.
