The Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) has approved the promotion of 11 senior academic staff members in recognition of their academic contributions and dedication. The decision was made during the university’s 30th regular meeting of the Governing Council, held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, in Abuja. According to a statement from the university management, four staff members were promoted to the rank of Professor, while seven others were elevated to the rank of Reader (Associate Professor).
The new Professors include Dr Lawal Sa’adu (DVC Administration), Dr Aliyu Usman Moyi (DVC Academic), Dr Nasir Garba Anka, and Dr Rabiatu Musa Mafara. Promoted Readers are Dr Taofiki Aminu, Dr Abbas Sani Dahiru, Dr Abdullahi Mustapha Muhammad, Dr Adamu Muhammad, Dr Precious C. Ezeh, Dr Ahmad Kainuwa, and Dr Omokhuale Emmanuel. Pro-Chancellor Rt. Hon. Engr. Aminu Sani Isa congratulated them, urging the staff to see the promotion as a call to greater service and academic excellence.
