The Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has advised newly promoted professors to be assets to the academic system, not liabilities. He gave this advice during a “Professors’ Roundtable Discussion” held at the university’s Old Senate Chamber.
Professor Abdul Rahman urged professors to work hard, be approachable to younger academics and students, and be passionate about their careers. He reminded them that being a professor comes with great responsibility to provide solutions to national problems. He said that professors must be role models, development-focused, and possess good character, wisdom, and transparency in all their dealings. The Vice-Chancellor also expressed concern about some professors neglecting their duties and failing to make a positive contribution to society. The event welcomed 13 newly promoted professors and was attended by university leaders and staff.
