Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, Asoludero, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land cutting the tape to commission the Refurbished Vehicles
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has received a fully refurbished bus and van, purchased and upgraded by the FUNAAB Alumni Association to support the institution’s operations and generate revenue for the alumni body.
The commissioning ceremony, held at the University, was presided over by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, His Royal Majesty Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, who described the initiative as “historic” and a testament to the strength and commitment of FUNAAB’s alumni. He praised the transformation of a scrap vehicle into a modern bus, highlighting it as an example of innovation and the University’s “waste-to-wealth” ethos.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Babatunde Kehinde commended the Alumni Association for the gesture, noting that the refurbished vehicles underscore the value of teamwork, strategic leadership, and purposeful collaboration between the University and its alumni.
Speaking on behalf of the alumni, Global President Mr Bolaji Gbadamosi expressed gratitude to the University’s leadership for their support, stressing that the project reflects the alumni’s commitment to funding initiatives that strengthen FUNAAB’s development. He also highlighted preparations for the upcoming harvest season on the Alumni Farm and the logistics for produce transportation.
The vehicles are expected to serve both the Alumni Association and the wider University community, enhancing mobility, generating income, and reinforcing the partnership between alumni and the institution.
