The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), defeated the University of Ibadan (UI) to secure the bronze medal at the recently concluded Monieball 5-Aside Football Tournament in Lagos.
Team FUNAAB impressed spectators with their tactical discipline, teamwork, and fighting spirit throughout the contest, earning recognition as one of the tournament’s standout teams.
Adebayo Adekanye, a student of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, was named Best Player of the Match following a stellar performance that earned him a ₦50,000 cash reward.
Reacting to the win, FUNAAB’s Director of Sports, Dr Samuel Olabanji, commended Vice-Chancellor Prof Babatunde Kehinde for his unwavering support and praised the university community for their encouragement.
The Monieball 5-Aside Tournament, an annual inter-university competition, promotes youth development, teamwork and sportsmanship through football.
