Prof. Adebayo Shittu, delivering his Welcome Address
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) and Ajogbe Agro Allied Industry, has shown breakthroughs in livestock feed production through the African Agriculture Knowledge Transfer Partnership (AAKTP).
The two-year project, themed “Developing Cost-Effective Nutritive Feeds from Locally Available Crop Residues and Agricultural By-Products for Livestock in Southwest Nigeria,” focused on sustainable feed solutions, productivity enhancement, and technology transfer.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Olawale Dairo lauded the collaboration for turning research into practical solutions, emphasising the synergy between academia, industry, and government as a driver of innovation.
Prof Adebayo Shittu, project lead, described the initiative as bridging research and industrial application, while Ajogbe’s Executive Chairman, Engr. Bosoye Olalere, highlighted the company’s improved capacity to produce high-quality ruminant feed and strengthen a self-sustaining livestock value chain.
Prof Christian Harrison of UWS and Alhaji Akinlawon Olalekan of Ogun State Agricultural Development Programme commended the project for its cross-continental collaboration and impact on food security, innovation, and rural development.
