The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has reiterated its commitment to advancing gender equity and empowering girls through education and leadership opportunities.
The Director of Centre for Gender Studies, Dr Tosin Tume, made this known in a statement issued on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti to mark the International Day of the Girl Child.
Tume, a playwright and theatre director, said this year’s theme, “The Girl I Am: The Change I Lead,” proves the role of girls as active agents of transformation rather than mere beneficiaries of change.
“At FUOYE, we remain committed to promoting gender equity, empowering girls through education, and amplifying their voices in leadership and innovation,” she stated.
She called on parents, educators, and policymakers to provide platforms that enable girls to thrive, make decisions, and lead initiatives that drive societal progress. “Today, we proudly join the global community to celebrate every girl’s strength, voice, and limitless potential,” she added.
