The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, has bragged about the institution’s growing popularity among admission seekers, crediting its rise to a stable academic calendar and high academic standards.
FUOYE recently ranked fourth among Nigeria’s most preferred universities in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Only Lagos State University, the University of Lagos, and the University of Ilorin ranked higher.
Speaking in Abuja, Ndoma-Egba attributed the surge in applications to uninterrupted academic sessions since the COVID-19 era, a rich curriculum and the hospitable environment of the host communities, Oye-Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti.
He revealed plans to further raise FUOYE’s profile through international partnerships, infrastructure upgrades and what he termed a “FUOYE Standard” that will define its academic and research excellence.
The Pro-Chancellor praised Vice-Chancellor Professor Sunday Fasina and his team for driving the university’s rapid growth, but stressed that managing its expansion sustainably remains a priority.
