Students from the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna) have won big at the 2024–2025 Huawei ICT Competition. The university’s two teams performed excellently and received top awards in the Network and Computing categories of the contest. Their success means they will now represent Nigeria in the global finals of the competition.
One team from FUT Minna clinched the Grand Prize in the Network Track, while the second team took First Prize in the Computing Track. Their excellent performance means that FUT Minna will now represent the Southern Africa Region at the global finals of the competition. The Huawei ICT Competition is a prestigious global event that brings university students together to test their skills in areas such as networking, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and programming. It gives young talents a chance to prove themselves and learn from some of the best in the tech world.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta, was at the award ceremony to celebrate with the winning teams. He also took group photos with the students and other guests to mark the special moment. Everyone at FUT Minna is very proud. Many people are hopeful that the teams will do even better and win more awards at the global finals. Big congratulations to the FUT Minna teams for making Nigeria proud and showing that Nigerian students can compete with the best in the world when it comes to technology and innovation.
