The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences (FUTES), Iyin Ekiti, Prof Gbenga Aribisala, has vowed that all recruitment into the institution will be strictly merit-based, warning that personal connections will not guarantee employment.
The statement followed the official handover of medical equipment donated by Professor Oluwarotimi Sanya, the Pioneer Provost of Afe Babalola University’s College of Medicine and a member of the FUTES Governing Council.
The items, including blood pressure monitors, thermometers, glucometers, and basic ward supplies, are intended to support the university’s health centre ahead of its academic commencement on January 5, 2026.
Professor Aribisala explained that vacancies have been advertised, that applicants have undergone an online assessment, and that shortlisted candidates will proceed to interviews. “Only qualified applicants will be engaged; knowing any university official does not guarantee employment,” he stressed.
Sanya, highlighting his five decades of medical experience, said the donation addressed essential diagnostic needs. Aribisala expressed appreciation, noting the support came at a critical time as the young university seeks further backing from well-meaning individuals and organisations.
He added that all donated items would be named in honour of contributors.
