The Georgia Institute of Technology has been ranked seventh in the world in the 2026 Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, compiled in partnership with Schmidt Science Fellows.
The ranking recognises the institute’s leadership in research that addresses global challenges through cross-disciplinary collaboration.
“Interdisciplinary research is at the heart of Georgia Tech’s mission,” said Tim Lieuwen, executive vice president for Research. “Our Faculty, students, and research teams work across fields to create solutions in healthcare, energy, advanced manufacturing, and artificial intelligence. This ranking reflects the strength of our collaborative culture and the impact of our research on society.”
Georgia Tech, a leading R1 research university, integrates basic and applied research to tackle pressing global issues, from developing cancer treatments to pioneering new energy technologies.
Research at the institute spans all seven colleges, 11 interdisciplinary research institutes, the Georgia Tech Research Institute, the Enterprise Innovation Institute, and hundreds of labs and centres, all focused on turning ideas into real-world results.
The recognition highlights Georgia Tech’s continued role in shaping innovation and using science to improve the human condition.
