The Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR) has started its 2026 In-House Research Review Meeting on Monday, October 3, 2025. The meeting commenced with the establishment of the Irrigation Research Programme to initiate irrigation activities nationwide.
Prof. Hamza Mani, the Programme Leader, discussed core agricultural issues affecting irrigation activities in his presentation, including drought, flooding, pests and diseases, and crop failures at different research sites. Mani also highlighted the various challenges and solutions achieved during the review period.
The meeting reviewed 12 unfinished Research Projects (RPBs), which are succeeding in their diverse areas in irrigation science and technology.
The institute also presented two new RPBs to examine water management, crop resilience in the face of current climate challenges, and the technologies required to enhance irrigation efficiency.
