ICSAN Seeks Quick Passage of Governance Institute Bill

Uto Ukpanah, President and Chairman of Governing Council, ICSAN

The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) has renewed calls for the swift passage of the Chartered Governance Institute of Nigeria (CGIN) Bill.

ICSAN President and Chairman of Governing Council, Uto Ukpanah, disclosed this during a media briefing marking her first 100 days in office. She said the bill, once passed, would reposition the Institute and expand its mandate beyond secretarial practice to broader governance and compliance roles.

Ukpanah said the council is fully committed to ensuring the bill’s passage, which she noted would enhance professional recognition and relevance for members.

Highlighting her achievements in office, she cited the ongoing N3.5 billion national secretariat project as a significant milestone, adding that the first-floor decking has been completed. She expressed confidence that the project would be delivered ahead of schedule.

Ukpanah also mentioned progress in academic partnerships, stakeholder engagements and preparations for ICSAN’s 60th anniversary as part of efforts to strengthen the Institute’s visibility and advocacy for good governance across all sectors.
