Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State, graduated 1,050 students at its 23rd convocation, including 67 who earned first-class honours. Vice-Chancellor Lawrence Ezemonye said the rise in top graduates reflects the university’s improving academic standards, student resilience, and faculty dedication.
Of the graduating class, 408 earned Second-Class Upper Division, 162 secured Second-Class Lower, while 225 received distinguished awards, including MBBS and Pharmacy degrees. Three graduates achieved distinctions in Community Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Pharmacy.
Ezemonye noted that 862 students received first degrees, alongside 188 higher degrees—59 PhDs, 103 Master’s, and 26 Postgraduate Diplomas—highlighting the university’s focus on producing specialists capable of driving national development.
Pro-Chancellor Ahmed Tijani-Mora urged graduates to uphold the institution’s values and demonstrate excellence in their careers. “We are proud of our accomplishments over 26 years as a productive training ground for Nigeria’s manpower in governance and the economy,” he said.
