Derin Phillips, a chairmanship aspirant for Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, has rolled out a bold plan to drive development through improved education, technology, and transparent governance.
Phillips, contesting under the All Progressives Congress (APC), made this known in a statement on Tuesday while unveiling his five-point development plan for the council.
He said the blueprint, codenamed FAITH, stands for Financing and innovation, access to social welfare, innovation in education and technology, Transparency in governance, and Health and the environment.
Phillips said the agenda aims to rebuild trust in the council’s leadership and tackle some long-standing issues affecting the community.
“Ikoyi-Obalende is my home—I was born and raised here,” he said. “We need visionary leadership to move the council forward, and I believe I am best prepared to deliver on that.”
He commended residents for their resilience and desire for positive change, adding that his plans would ensure inclusive development and equitable access to resources.
Phillips also pledged to make the council a shining example in Lagos through people-focused policies and transparent governance.
Phillips stressed the need for forward-thinking solutions
on the education and technology pillar.
“We should be doing things now in compliance with global standards, so under this, we will focus on Artificial Intelligence. We must tap into an emerging potential as Africans, Nigerians, and Lagosians.
“When elected, everyone in the council will have unhindered access to me. My phone number will be in the public space. I am doing this because I understand the importance of communication. Through communication, issues on security and others can be well addressed before they escalate,” he added.
