James Hope University (JHU), Lagos, has signed a five-year strategic partnership with Superior University, Lahore, Pakistan, aimed at boosting academic collaboration, research, and innovation.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed by JHU Vice Chancellor Professor Austin Nosike and Superior University Rector Professor Dr Sumaira Rehman, sets out joint initiatives including student and faculty exchanges, dual and joint degree programmes, and collaborative research projects. Both institutions will also develop workshops, seminars, and short-term study abroad programmes focused on entrepreneurship, leadership, and technological skills.
Professor Nosike described the partnership as a “platform for cross-cultural learning and academic advancement” and said it would strengthen ties between Nigeria and Pakistan while producing graduates equipped for a global economy.
Superior University, founded in 2000 and chartered by the Government of Punjab in 2004, is recognised for research, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning. It was ranked among the top universities in the 2022 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.
Observers say the agreement is timely as African universities seek to expand international engagement, strengthen research capacity, and promote knowledge exchange. The alliance is expected to enhance global visibility for both institutions and contribute to socio-economic development through education, innovation, and technology.
