The Executive Council of Jigawa State has approved a sum of ₦779 million for education support contracts aimed at enhancing basic education and monitoring across the state’s 27 Local Government Areas.
The approval was given during a recent council meeting, chaired by the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Umar A. Namadi. The contracts cover the supply of essential teaching and learning materials, as well as mobility support for school supervision.
According to the council resolution, the package includes 68,850 textbooks, 700 whiteboards, 3,000 cartons of erasable markers, and 295 Hunter model motorcycles for School Support Officers (SSOs). These will be deployed to schools in both rural and urban areas across the state.
“This intervention is part of the ongoing implementation of the educational transformation agenda of our administration,” Governor Namadi explained.
He added that the move is designed to improve learning outcomes, equip classrooms with teaching tools, and strengthen accountability at the school level.
