KAIST Researchers Develop New Solutions to Change Cancer Cells

KAIST researchers developed a technology that reverses cancer by identifying a genetic switch at the moment cells become cancerous.

Researchers at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) have developed a solution that can transform cancer cells into normal cells. The cell reprogramming did not involve the use of chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Instead, with a computer system named Boolean Network Inference (BENEIN), the researchers mapped the genetic circuitry of colon cancer cells and reprogrammed them into normal cells. The solution is currently limited to colorectal cancer. As an AI and gene network-based approach, BENEIN could be utilised to treat other types of cancer. However, the researchers recommend further testing before introducing it to human clinical trials.
