Hon. Wemi Jones, the Kogi State Commissioner for Education, stated that the Ministry of Education will focus on ongoing projects and new programmes to improve the quality of education and address other education-related issues in the 2026 Appropriation Year.
The commissioner revealed this at the 2026 Ministerial Budget Defence, held at the State House of Assembly Complex in Lokoja, the state capital.
He mentioned that the ministry will begin implementing the education roadmap for out-of-school children, the girl-child, early childhood care and development, and basic education, among others.
Reeling out the state’s success, the commissioner said the ministry has maintained the students’ exchange programme in the northern states, conducted the 2024/2025 annual school census, and paid the entry and exit examination fees for students in public schools.
