The management of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, has revived the affiliation process with Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, as part of a strategic initiative led by the new Provost, Dr Paul Femi Fashagba.
The renewed collaboration aims to facilitate the offering of degree and postgraduate programmes across multiple disciplines, thereby strengthening academic capacity and enhancing curriculum delivery. The affiliation is also expected to allow students to earn university-certified qualifications without having to leave their current educational environment.
Dr Fashagba, speaking on the development, underscored the importance of institutional partnerships in advancing higher education and aligning academic delivery with evolving societal demands. He stated that the affiliation would expand educational opportunities for students while supporting the professional growth of faculty and staff through improved access to research, training, and academic resources.
“This affiliation is a crucial step in positioning our college as a centre of excellence,” he said. “It reflects our commitment to providing accessible, quality, and competitive education that aligns with national and international standards.”
Kogi State College of Education and PAAU share a history of academic cooperation, and the renewed partnership marks a new phase in strengthening that relationship. Both institutions are focused on innovation and academic excellence, with the affiliation expected to commence in the next academic session, pending final approvals and accreditation.
The engagement took place on May 22 2025, at the office of the Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Orugun Juwon Johnson. Other senior officials of Prince Abubakar Audu University present at the meeting included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Oja Paul Egwu; the University Registrar, Barrister Aliu Shegun; and Professor Ajayi, the Director of Academic Planning.
