Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the Lagos State Deputy Governor and Prof. Olayinka Karim, the Vice Chancellor of Fountain University, Osun State, have charged Muslim women to break cultural, economic, and societal barriers.
The duo made the call at The Criterion Association of Women in Businesses and Professions International Conference, themed ‘Breaking the Glass Ceiling: Muslim Women Overcoming Economic and Social Challenges.’
The deputy governor noted that moral issues in Nigeria stem from poor parenting and a lack of discipline in homes, stating that hard work, respect, and honesty must be the foundation of families.
He added, “No nation can rise above the moral quality of its citizens. The future of any nation depends on the youth, because they are the future leaders. The most important unit in any society is the family, and if that is broken, then everything is lost.”
Hamzat mentioned that Lagos State is tackling challenges facing micro, small, and medium enterprises through the Ministry of Women Affairs and the Employment Trust Fund.
