The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has reported 184 deaths from Lassa Fever in 2025, with a cumulative 995 confirmed cases.
In its Week 46 situation report (November 10–16), the NCDC noted an increase from 10 confirmed cases in Week 45 to 19 in Week 46, with new infections recorded in Bauchi, Ondo, and Edo states.
The report indicated that 21 states across 102 Local Government Areas have reported at least one confirmed case, with Ondo, Bauchi, and Edo accounting for 88 per cent of all infections. The predominant age group affected remains 21-30 years.
The NCDC also highlighted that the case fatality rate (CFR) has risen to 18.5 per cent, compared with 16.2 per cent in the same period last year. No new healthcare workers were affected this week.
Overall, the Centre noted that while confirmed and suspected cases have decreased compared to 2024, continued vigilance and preventive measures remain critical to controlling the outbreak.
