Lagos State University (LASU) has become the most chosen university in Nigeria, according to new data released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The announcement was made during the 2024 JAMB Policy Meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.
LASU surpassed the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), which had held the top spot for many years. The data showed that LASU received the highest number of applications from students seeking admission into Nigerian universities. The University of Lagos (UNILAG) came second with 58,645 applicants, while UNILORIN now ranks third with 56,758 applicants. UNILORIN was popular among students in the past due to its steady academic calendar and very few strikes, making it a top choice for many years. With this new development, LASU has now taken the lead as the top university that students want to attend in Nigeria
