The Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) Judo team has recorded an impressive performance at the ongoing 27th Nigerian University Games (NUGA) holding at the University of Jos, claiming medals across several weight categories.
According to the team’s coach, Omohodion Elizabeth Korede, LASUED secured gold in the women’s +78kg category after defeating Lagos State University (LASU) in a hard-fought final. The men’s -100kg judoka also earned silver after a closely contested bout with the same opponent.
In the women’s 48kg category, LASUED took bronze following a spirited fight against Bayero University, Kano (BUK), while another bronze came from the women’s 78kg division after overcoming a challenge from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
Coach Korede expressed satisfaction with the team’s showing, describing the results as a product of dedication and discipline. “We are proud of our judokas. Their effort and teamwork have paid off, and we are hopeful of adding more medals as the competition progresses,” she said.
