The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has hailed the achievement of Benedict Ater, a graduate of Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, who won 18 awards at the Nigerian Law School’s recent call to bar ceremony in Abuja.
Ater received the Council of Legal Education (CLE) Star Prize, the Overall Best Student Award, and the Most Promising Student of the Year, among others. His performance has earned him one of the most distinguished records among graduates in the institution’s history.
Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Isa Hayatu Chiroma, SAN, urged the new lawyers to protect their reputation, stressing that integrity and professionalism were their most valuable assets. Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Olukayode Olaiwola, also advised them to be fair, respectful and cautious in their dealings.
Benue State Attorney-General, Timothy Yangien, who once taught Ater, said his success was consistent with his academic record and urged young Nigerians to emulate his dedication.
After expressing gratitude for what he described as a lifelong record of academic excellence, he added that he had consistently been the top graduating student from his basic education through law school.
