The Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Professor Isa Chiroma, has dismissed claims of withholding Bar examination results, attributing the delay to issues related to examination malpractice.
At a House of Representatives Justice Committee hearing, Chiroma emphasised the school’s strict approach to managing cases of exam malpractice.
He presented pictorial evidence to lawmakers and stated that results are released only after the council’s formal approval process.
Professor Chiroma emphasised that, following statutory provisions, only candidates who pass the Bar examinations can be called to the Bar.
Committee Chairman Olumide Osoba commended the Law School’s use of CCTV and promised budgetary support for nationwide infrastructure upgrades.
Osoba noted that the committee will embark on an oversight function for all the law schools across the country to gain firsthand knowledge of the existing infrastructure put in place.
