Abubakar Hassan Nalaraba, who represents Awe, Doma, and Keana Federal Constituency, has awarded N100 million in scholarships to 1,000 students across Nasarawa State.
The scholarships were presented on Saturday in Lafia through the Nalaraba Foundation, set up by the lawmaker to support education and youth empowerment. Each beneficiary received N100,000, an amount meant to cover tuition for at least one academic session.
Nalaraba explained that his team studied tuition costs in the state and found most schools charge below N100,000. He said the initiative was designed to reduce financial pressure on families and open access to higher education for underprivileged youths.
The move is one of the most significant single scholarship interventions by a lawmaker in the state, covering all 13 local government areas. Observers say it could help reduce school dropouts and encourage more students to complete their studies, boosting Nasarawa’s educational development.
