New rules have been introduced in Malete to reduce robbery attacks on students, especially those of Kwara State University (KWASU). At a meeting held on June 23, 2025, attended by KWASU management, local government leaders, traditional rulers, and security agencies, it was agreed that certain activities must stop at night. Effective immediately, new safety rules will be implemented in the community. Motorbikes must stop operating by 10 p.m., and all movement and business activities must end by 11 p.m. Generator sets must be turned off by midnight, and night parties are no longer allowed anywhere in the area. To make the community safer, a new joint security team will be formed. This team will include members from the school, the local community, and security agencies. Additionally, all hostels are now required to hire their security guards, and more vigilantes will be employed to patrol the area. The Moro Local Government has promised to support these efforts. They will provide a new transformer, install road gates, and allocate ₦1 million to assist victims of robbery.
