The Minna Emirate Young Academic Forum (MEYAF) has donated learning materials to support pupils at Lunko “B” UBE Primary School in Bosso Local Government Area, Niger State. The donation was made on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Items donated to the school included 200 exercise books (each with 40 leaves), two cartons of chalk, and two packs of red and blue pens.
Speaking during the donation, MEYAF Chairman Dr Yusuf Abdulhakeem, who works in the Department of Industrial Mathematics at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, stated that the gesture was part of their efforts to support the community. He explained that the group is made up of academic staff who are indigenes of Niger State. Their goal is to help through teaching, research, and community service.
Dr Yusuf said the group plans to return to interact with the students and help improve learning in the school. He also mentioned that the school environment is in poor condition. He called on the government and kind-hearted individuals to help support public schools, especially those in villages. The headmaster of the school, Mallam Umar Alhaji Mohammed, thanked MEYAF for their support. He promised that the materials would be put to good use.
Moreover, the Village Head, Alhaji Umaru Sanda Garba, expressed appreciation for the kind gesture. He took the opportunity to ask for help in repairing a classroom block that had been destroyed by a recent storm. The support from MEYAF is expected to bring some relief to the school and help pupils learn better in a more comfortable environment.
