MTN Nigeria has initiated discussions with Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), on a comprehensive digital-transformation partnership to enhance ICT infrastructure, learning delivery, and access to modern technology.
A high-level MTN delegation, led by Regional Sales Manager Abubakar Dankani, highlighted the company’s evolution into a full-service technology provider, offering data centre solutions, cloud services, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, and digital automation. MTN emphasised support for Microsoft 365 tools, no-code administrative apps, and surveillance systems to improve campus operations, communication, and security.
MTN also showcased its Tier III Data Centre in Lagos, designed for scalable, secure, and locally compliant hosting, with pricing in naira on a pay-as-you-use model to reduce costs. Digital solutions such as ringback tones, M-Survey polls, and closed user groups (CUGs) were highlighted as tools to streamline communication, engagement, and operational efficiency.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mohammed Salihu Niworu welcomed the initiative, noting IBBUL’s strategic shift toward digitisation and expressing interest in solutions that improve efficiency, affordability, and integration with existing systems. The University requested detailed demonstrations and cost-benefit analyses before finalising any partnership.
The engagement marks a potential step forward in strengthening IBBUL’s digital ecosystem and advancing its global competitiveness.
