Nigerian Academy of Education (NAE) 40th Anniversary celebration and the induction of new academics
The Nigerian Academy of Education (NAE) has asked the federal government (FG) to fix the various challenges in the educational system.
Prof. Kabiru Isyaku, the NAE President, made the call at the NAE’s 40th anniversary, where it inducted 38 academics.
In his remarks, he stated that there is a need to review the educational sector and address issues such as funding, certification, and curriculum updates. He said, “It is discouraging to see schools filled with non-teachers while qualified educators are jobless. Quality assurance and supervisory agencies must enforce approved standards to ensure only qualified personnel are employed in our educational institutions.”
Afterwards, he implored the federal government to set up governing boards and parastatals under the Federal Ministry of Education.
He elaborated that the absence of these boards hinders the implementation of key policies in the education sector.
