NASENI Awards N229m to Female Engineers

NASENI, PICTT award N229m grants to 14 female engineers under DELT-Her 2.0

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), in partnership with the Presidential Implementation Committee on Technology Transfer (PICTT), has awarded N229 million to 14 female engineers under the Developing Engineering Leaders Through Her (DELT-Her 2.0) initiative.

The ceremony, held at NASENI headquarters, marked the culmination of a competitive process in which 9,925 project proposals were submitted nationwide. The awardees will use the grants to advance innovations in agriculture, clean energy, health, mobility, digital security, and environmental sustainability.

NASENI Executive Vice Chairman Khalil Suleiman Halilu described DELT-Her as a platform that turns women’s engineering ideas into impactful solutions. “Gender inclusion is not charity, it is strategy,” he said, stressing that empowering women strengthens Nigeria’s technology and manufacturing ecosystem.

The programme has expanded rapidly since its first edition in 2024, which supported six women engineers with N70.5 million. DELT-Her 2.0 also scaled mentorship efforts, reaching over 150 schoolgirls across the FCT, Kwara, Niger, Plateau, and Nasarawa, providing bootcamps, fabrication kits, and guidance to inspire future innovators.

Chairman of PICTT, Dr Mohammed Dahiru, and other dignitaries, including Senate representatives and the Minister of State for Finance, praised the awardees and emphasised the role of women in driving national development, technological independence, and industrial growth.
