The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has urged Nigerians to end telecom infrastructure sabotage, stating that a war on telecommunications is a war on the economy. The group highlighted the struggles of an average Nigerian teacher, emphasising the stress that comes with poor telecommunication.
NCC further noted that the country has over 79,000 kilometres of fibre cables laid across the country. Though insufficient to meet the country’s broadband needs, they are still subject to theft and vandalism. The agency is now calling on Nigerians to monitor and protect the cables in their communities, citing this infrastructure as a solid means of upholding education nationwide.
