Nigerian Navy Officer, Captain A.O. Akano Shines in South Africa, Emerges Best Graduating Student at Defence College
Captain A. O. Akano of the Nigerian Navy emerged as the best graduating student of the Security and Defence Studies Programme 11/25 at the South African National Defence College.
Akano outperformed participants from across Africa and other regions, receiving the top award for excellence in strategic leadership, defence policy, and security management.
The programme prepares senior officers for responsibilities in national and international security affairs.
He is the second non-South African to achieve this distinction, following Captain Obute, another Nigerian Navy officer, in 2022.
