NiMet, Landmark University Seal Deal on Climate Innovation

NiMet partners with Landmark University on climate research

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has entered into a partnership with Landmark University to strengthen climate research and expand climate science education nationwide.
The agreement is designed to improve climate data collection and analysis while advancing initiatives that support environmental resilience and sustainable development. It also seeks to deepen policy advocacy and broaden academic programmes that embed climate science into university curricula.

NiMet’s Director-General, Prof Charles Anosike, said the partnership aligns with the agency’s mandate to enhance data-driven forecasting and early warning systems. He noted that the collaboration will focus on critical research areas, including drought tracking, flood assessment, and agricultural planning.

Landmark University’s Pro-Chancellor, Dr Olumuyiwa Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting joint research, staff exchange, and community outreach programmes that translate scientific insights into practical solutions for farmers, policymakers, and local communities.
