NYCN Declares Emergency, Moves HQ to FUOYE Campus

The Ekiti State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has declared a state of emergency at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), citing widespread corruption and moral decay in the institution.

In a letter dated October 29, 2025, and signed by Chairman Amb. James Bankole and Secretary Silas Olawale, the council said it had exhausted all official channels, including petitions to the presidency, ministries, and anti-corruption agencies.

Effective November 3, 2025, the NYCN announced plans to relocate its operational headquarters to FUOYE’s main campus and commence daily peaceful protests until its demands are met.

The group is calling for the suspension of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abayomi Fasina, the removal of Governing Council Chairman Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, the investigation and prosecution of sexual abuse cases, the suspension of the ongoing vice-chancellorship selection, and a forensic audit of the university’s finances since 2021.

The NYCN also urged students, youth groups, and civil society organisations to join the campaign to “liberate FUOYE from corruption, abuse of office, and declining moral standards.”
